Dick Hannah sends Eloise on her wish to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

Eloise was ready for magic when she arrived at Dick Hannah Subaru in mid-June. The bubbly 6-year-old girl knew something exciting was happening, but little did she know that she was finding out her wish to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was coming true in just a few short days! The amazing staff at Dick Hannah Subaru surprised Eloise and her family with gifts for the trip and also wrote letters for Eloise that were delivered by her very own owl. It was the just the beginning of the magic for Eloise, her parents, and siblings as they whisked their way to Orlando a short time after! Once again, Dick Hannah Subaru showed how much they care for the community by helping to make Eloise's wish come true!

Northwest Children’s Outreach Donation

Founded in March of 2001, Northwest Children’s Outreach is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children in need. Dick Hannah Subaru was able to donate $37,182 towards this mission. This substantial contribution will significantly bolster the organization's efforts to provide essential care packages- including diapers, baby formula, clothes, toiletries, and toys to children throughout the region. By collaborating with local organizations, Northwest Children's Outreach ensures these vital resources reach the families who need them most, promoting the well-being and development of children in the community.

Operation Warm - Dick Hannah Subaru

During this chilly February, Dick Hannah Subaru joined in Operation Warm. We donated coats, shoes, and socks to over 100 children through the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Washington. This local organization, renowned for its youth development expertise, is dedicated to fostering hope and opportunity for young people. Guided by a clear mission, purpose, and vision, the Boys & Girls Club has a proven track record of success in empowering youth. For Dick Hannah Subaru, providing aid to the community's youth and ensuring that children have the necessary resources to thrive and succeed is a priority. Dick Hannah Subaru is dedicated to supporting and uplifting the next generation.

Subaru Loves Learning - Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary

Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School is located in Vancouver's Bagley Downs neighborhood along the Fourth Plain Corridor. Roosevelt serves about 525 students from Transitional Kindergarten (preschool) through 5th grade, including Spanish Dual Language classrooms and Supported Communication Program classrooms. Our students are diverse, representing many different countries and languages. Dick Hannah Subaru's donation of school supplies will provide our classrooms with mid-year refresh of supplies and provide students in need with school supplies for use at home to ensure that every student has what they need to access their education.

Old Man Archie Loves Subaru

Archie is an 11 yr old dachshund mix whose owner attempted to surrender him to West Columbia Gorge Humane Society as he thought that Archie needed to be medically euthanized. Archive was seen by veterinary specialist who determined he did not need to be medically euthanized, but did require a long treatment and recovery while in our care. Archie was cleared for adoption in October, and found his forever home during the Subaru Loves Pets Event. Archie's foster family who cared for him throughout his medical treatment were inspired by Subaru Loves Pets Event and adopted him to support the underdogs who are often times overlooked during large events.

Nice Employee of the Month Program - Community Donations

Here at Dick Hannah Dealerships we are always looking for ways to show our appreciation to our employees as well as the community. Every month, an employee is voted by their peers as the “Nice Employee of the Month”. Part of their reward is donating to a local charity of their choosing in the amount of $250. In the last month we have donated to several different organizations including The Humane Society, the Maui Relief Fund, Doernbecher’s, Randall’s Children Hospital and The Autism Society of Oregon and Washington. We know that sometimes there’s a personal reason for donating to a specific organization and sometimes we just see a need. Either way, we want to make sure our employees know that what they care about is important to us and helping people and groups around us is just as important. In 2022, Dick Hannah Dealership has donated approximately $48,000 through this program alone and look forward to improving on that in 2023.

Hannah Subaru Loves Shriners Children's Hospital

Shriners Children’s Portland greatly appreciates our relationship with Dick Hannah Subaru and the support they provide for our patients through the Subaru Loves to Care® program. The blankets that we receive are given to our patients and families that have lengthy stays and provide warmth and oftentimes a sense of security during what can be a very stressful hospital visit. At Shriners Children's Portland, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. For nearly 100 years, we have been dedicated to providing innovative pediatric specialty care, conducting groundbreaking research, and delivering outstanding medical education. Our focus extends to a wide range of pediatric orthopedic conditions, from fractures to rare diseases and syndromes. Additionally, we offer specialized cleft lip and palate care. The best part is that all our services are provided in a family-centered environment, regardless of the families' ability to pay. Thanks to the dedication and collective efforts of community partners like Dick Hannah Subaru, we have achieved significant milestones and made a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.

Dick Hannah Subaru Loves to Help

In the Spring of 2023 Dick Hannah Subaru, along with other Subaru retailers helped to meet a critical need of those experiencing homelessness in their local community. Through the Subaru Loves to Help® campaign, Subaru retailers were able to donate 500,000 pairs of new socks (50,000 being youth socks) and 100,000 warm blankets for both adults and children to various shelters and organizations. Subaru is dedicated to supporting those who need it most in our communities and as a dealership, Dick Hannah Subaru decided to give our collected donation to Share Vancouver. This small item can truly have a massive impact on those experiencing homelessness by simply providing comfort and helping to maintain the health of those in our community.

Dick Hannah Grants Wishes

Dick Hannah Subaru staff turned wish kid, Elijah's dream into reality! Elijah is a 7-year-old from Vancouver who is a Make-A-Wish participant. Despite his tough medical journey, Elijah is a spunky and active child who loves animals, LEGOs, and playing soccer. His wish is to swim with dolphins in San Diego. And thanks to the team at Dick Hannah, he and his family will be headed on his wish trip in August! The team celebrated him along with his extended family with balloons, catered lunch, ice cream and activities for the kids. It was a magical experience for all including the customers who joined in the fun. We cannot thank the team enough for showing up for this very special kid and his humble family. Thank you!

Dick Hannah Subaru helps Community in Motion keep people mobile

Community in Motion, a local non-profit agency that helps people with transportation needs, was selected as the local charity for the Share the Love® Event and we're thrilled with the support from Dick Hannah Subaru and those who purchased vehicles. We help people with transportation to employment, medical appointments, getting essentials, and staying connected with others. Part of the funds will be used to help purchase an accessible vehicle for our newest program, a shuttle for residents in North Clark County to go in to Battle Ground weekly. With support from Dick Hannah Subaru and one of our volunteer drivers we were able to help a 90-year-old woman who lives in one of the local assisted living centers go to the birthday party of her 97-year-old friend who lives in another assisted living center in town. Last year we helped almost 10,000 people with over 274,000 trips.

Dick Hannah Supports Community

We at Dick Hannah Subaru know how important a community is. That is why, for decades we have been committed to making a positive impact, as well as strengthening and preserving ours; not just for our generation, but for many to come. It is an integral part of our story and the legacy that Dick Hannah Subaru can leave behind. Last December we were able to tally up all the donations that our employees at each location made throughout the year. Last year we were able to give back to organizations like the Clark County Search and Rescue, Clark County Food Bank, Innovative Services Northwest, Boy and Girls Club, Meals on Wheels, Community House on Broadway in Longview, Lower Columbia School Gardens, My Father’s House Community Shelter and Guide Dogs for the Blind, totaling to $55,738. With that also being matched by Dick Hannah for another $55,738, bringing the 2022 donation amount to a total of $111,476. We would like to thank all the employees that were able to donate last year and we are excited to see how each of the donations will help those organizations and our community grow.

Momma Mavis

In late July, we got a desperate plea from our rescue partner in California. They had found a pregnant, four year old Husky/Bulldog mix who was living on the streets as a stray. Upon arriving at the shelter, she promptly gave birth to four puppies. They needed to be transferred immediately to avoid euthanasia. We had a puppy foster home available, so we said yes! We transferred Momma Mavis and her puppies to West Columbia Gorge Humane Society when the puppies were only a few days old. Everything went smoothly and all of the puppies were adopted out by the end of September! Unfortunately, after being available for adoption for several weeks while in foster, Mavis returned to our shelter. And, in spite of her beautiful blue eyes, cuddly personality, and propensity to give love, was available for adoption for almost two months, but was getting no interest at all. During the October Subaru Loves Pets event, we were able to promote Mavis to a new and larger audience via the adoption board at Dick Hannah Subaru. This Subaru Loves Pets event gave us the ability to put forward Mavis and several other pets that we have had in our shelter for a longer period of time through no fault of their own. She caught the eye of a very special family who already own a husky. They were in search of another husky to be a friend and playmate for their pup. Mavis was the one! There was an immediate connection and Mavis was so happy to find her forever home. The updates that the family have sent us since her adoption report that she is doing great!

Dick Hannah Subaru and Make A Wish Donation

Dick Hannah Subaru raised $11,469 through the Subaru Share the Love Event that goes to support granting wishes for local children battling a critical illness and living in Oregon or Southwest Washington. Children such as Gideon. Gideon's wish to have a shopping spree came true and he got every single thing on his list. "This incredible journey has impacted Gideon for a lifetime. He's been on cloud nine," said his mom, Tonia. Dick Hannah Subaru and supporters near and far made this beaming smile possible, and we are so grateful! Thank you all for believing in the healing power of a wish come true!

Shriners Children's Hospital Donations

Dick Hannah Subaru donated blankets and art kids to the The Shriners Children's Hospital as apart of our yearly involvement in our local community and Subaru Love Promise. The blankets and art kits that are donated are received by our Child Life department and are then distributed to both our inpatient and outpatient kiddos when visiting Shriners Children’s Portland. The kids really enjoy having such an extensive art kit to play with during their sometimes long stays here and both the patients AND their families love curling up in the comfortable blankets! At Shriners Children’s Portland, their mission is to provide the highest quality care for children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, and other special health care needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment. They provide care without regard to race, color, creed, sex or sect, disability, national origin or ability of the family to pay.

Bridge The Gap Donation

Dick Hannah Subaru and the Subaru Share the Love campaign donated $40,000 to the Bridge the Gap for Kids of Clark County. The monies donated will provide children in foster care in Clark, Skamania and Cowlitz Counties, Washington with enrichment activities (tutoring, athletics, dance, music, the musical instrument, swimming lessons, martial arts, ASB cards, graduation expenses, prom, senior pictures, sports equipment, sports fees, clothing, diapers, shoes, blankets, personal hygiene products. Honestly the list goes on and on. Bridge the Gap's mission is to give every child a childhood. Bridge the Gap never wants to say no and the generous donation allows Bridge the Gap to continue their mission.

Dick Hannah Dealerships - 2022 Walk/Run for the Animals

For 31 years, the Humane Society of Southwest Washington (HSSW) has hosted an event that has now become a Spring staple here in Vancouver. This year on May 7th, hundreds of walkers, runners, and dogs gather at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver to celebrate the special bond between people and their pets. Teams and individuals raise funds for several months to support HSSW’s mission to rescue, return, restore and rehome one animal at a time. Here at Dick Hannah Dealerships, we have been constant partners with HSSW for many years, and this year is no different. We had several team members bring their furry friends, along with family and friends to join in on this staple event; making sure to show our support for our community and the amazing work that HSSW is doing.

To the moon, and back...

Our story begins with an email from a shelter out of Texas. The email was a plea for assistance with rehoming a dog and her litter of 11 newborn puppies. We had a foster available so we immediately accepted this group into our care with a transport from their shelter. They arrived during the time of the July full moon, so the foster appropriately named the mom “Luna” and the 11 puppies were named after each month's full moon. Upon this group's arrival, it was very clear that they had symptoms of a severe upper respiratory infection. Sadly, even with treatment, we lost Sturgeon, Pink, Hunter, Flower, and Rose from this litter. It wasn’t until after Rose passed that it was confirmed that this illness was an aggressive strain of canine distemper virus. Thankfully, after treatments, testing, patience, and tears we were able to successfully clear Luna, and 6 of her puppies of this illness and move forward with adoption! We thank Dick Hannah Subaru for sharing our story, and doing their part in finding loving homes for a total of 60 pets from our shelter during the month of October!

Supporting Local Free Clinic in SW Washington

From mid-November 2020 through early January 2021, Dick Hannah Subaru in Vancouver, Washington featured the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington as their local charity of choice for their annual “Share the Love” event. Due to these efforts and the financial backing of Subaru, we, the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, remained open and provided medical services, including COVID vaccinations, during the pandemic. This support allowed us to continue living out our mission of providing and facilitating access to free, compassionate, quality health care for community members in Clark County who are otherwise unable to obtain such services. On behalf of the 6,500 patients the Free Clinic cares for every year, many thanks to Kamal Chaer, Rhonda Pfeifer, Peter Maher, and the outstanding team at Dick Hannah Subaru for their support. It is greatly appreciated!

Daisy the Underdog

Thanks to the generous donations of Dick Hannah Subaru and the Subaru Loves Pets campaign, Daisy, a 12 year old Dachshund, who is the quintessential "underdog," is now living her best life with a family who treasures her! Daisy came to West Columbia Gorge Humane Society through animal control. Her previous owner had passed away in the home and officers brought her to the shelter. Many attempts were made to reach next of kin but no one ever came forward to claim Daisy. There was no one to take her so West Columbia Gorge Humane Society took over guardianship and immediately began evaluating her. Daisy was in need of extensive medical care: a dental procedure to remove rotten diseased teeth; oral surgery to repair a hole in her mouth connected to her nose; six week of antibiotics to clear a bladder infection that had spread to her kidneys; and physical therapy to help her regain rear leg function. Daisy was even fitted her for a wheelchair! During the course of Daisy's treatments and her 55 day stay with us, she was visited regularly by the officer who had brought her in. The officer loved Daisy and wanted to adopt her, but he was afraid his wife would not agree to adopting a special needs dog. Little did he know, his wife came to us and secretly adopted Daisy as a special surprise for her husband. It was truly a happy ending for a sweet little dog who was in desperate need of love and attention.

Dick Hannah Subaru makes the holidays magical!

From mid-November through early December Dick Hannah Subaru championed the Make-A-Wish Oregon Toy Drive to support their Holiday Magic campaign. Over three weeks, the team collected a Subaru full of toys for children currently in Randall’s and Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospitals that Make-A-Wish Oregon will deliver during special events at each location. Their efforts to promote, support, and fulfill the need to bring magic to these children and their families who are going through difficult circumstances make them pillars of our community and people that can always be relied upon in challenging (and good) times. Thank you to Kamal, Chris, and the outstanding team at Dick Hannah Subaru for their support this holiday season!

Subaru Loves To Care 2018

The team at Dick Hannah Subaru had been a joy to partner with throughout the month of June, so not only were we excited that they were our first delivery this year as part of the Subaru Loves to Care campaign, we were also thrilled to be working with Randall Children's Hospital again. Randall provides state-of-the-art care for local children and even held an extra special place for Jason Hirata from Subaru who we had the pleasure to meet as well. Jason had been there just days prior for one of his children who had undergone a major surgery. The surgery was a success, and Jason could not wait to interact with some of the staff that made it possible. Along with Jason, Kamal Chaer and Ronda Pfeifer from Dick Hannah Subaru, Susan Korte from LLS OSWIM, and I gathered all of the blankets and care cards and made our way into the hospital. We were greeted by McKenzie Fletcher and Becca Hokinson, two staff members at Randall, and were able to learn about the breakthroughs they are making at even a National level. Randall Children's Hospital is the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in the entire Northwest, earning that status in the last year from the American College of Surgeons! While discussing even more amazing steps they are taking, we handed over the 80 cozy blankets and care cards and expressed our utmost admiration for not only their time that day but for their commitment to helping families just like Jason's. We thank Dick Hannah Subaru and their dedicated staff in making this possible.

Where Love Meets Hope!

Every person should have the chance to live a healthy life full of love and adventure. Since Subaru is committed to giving this chance to as many people as possible, we here at Dick Hannah Subaru, have partnered with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to donate and deliver blankets and message of hope cards to community members fighting cancer. Every three minutes one person in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Together, Subaru and LLS wanted to spread hope, warmth and love to those bravely fighting cancer and their supporters. This past June we had our amazing and generous customers write messages of hope, on what we call Hope Cards. We then delivered them, along with 10 arts and crafts kits and 80 blankets to children going through treatment at Randall Children’s hospital in Portland, Oregon.

Hannah Subaru Supports Education

Being able to support education in our local schools and provide educators with the tools they need to inspire students to learn has always been something Dick Hannah Dealerships is passionate about. When it came time for our annual Tools for Schools Drive, we partnered with Subaru Loves Learning and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The AAAS is an organization that supports education in the sciences and with their partnership, we were able to donate 250 award winning science books to Harry S Truman Elementary. Given our past partnerships we know that teachers and students alike will enjoy them for years to come. For the fourth consecutive year, we collected school supply donations and donated $100 for every new car sold during the month of August. This year we presented Theresa David-Turner, the principal at Harry S Truman Elementary School, with hundreds of different schools supplies, as well as a check for $8,400! We look forward to next year, when we can help another one of our deserving local schools grow the minds of the next generation.

Subaru Love the Earth

In honor of Subaru Love the Earth Month we at Dick Hannah Subaru invited you to participate in our E-Waste Recycling Event. We take environmental responsibility seriously and believe in leading by example when it comes to green practices and sustainability. That is why when it comes time to dispose of our electronic devices we think that it's important we do so in a safe, environmentally conscious way. This April, you helped us achieve our goal by bringing in your old cell phones, monitors, printers, TVs, and fax machines, to our EcoBox located in our store. We then took your old electronics and packaged and transported them to one of our certified data destruction facilities. There, they were sorted so any reusable parts could be harvested and refurbished. Any remaining materials were then dismantled and recycled properly so that nothing ends up in a land fill. We thank you for your effort in helping us keep the planet clean and move toward a sustainable future.
